Polk Falls to Indian River 6-3

WINTER HAVEN - The Polk State College Baseball team suffered a 6-3 setback to host Indian River State College Tuesday evening in Winter Haven.

The Pioneers improved to 3-1 on the year, while the Eagles drop to 1-1.

Indian River scored five runs in the first inning to take control early and Polk never recovered.

The Eagles scored two runs in the third inning and had the bases loaded before Holden Reeves lined out to end the inning.

Alex Bonilla led the Eagle at the plate, hitting 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Andris Gonzalez went five innings for the win and Jamie Cyr went the final four innings to get the save for Indian River.

After enjoying a two game homestand, the Eagles will hit the road tomorrow at Santa Fe. First pitch between the Saints and Eagles is scheduled for 3 p.m.
