Asher, Danner Fuel Polk to 15-2 Victory over State College of Florida

Bradenton - Sophomore Alec Asher pitched a complete-game two-hitter as Polk State College defeated State College of Florida 15-2 on Friday night in Bradenton. Polk sophomore outfielder Michael Danner had a strong performance at the plate for the Eagles; he slugged a grand slam home run, a three-run homer and an RBI single in the contest.

Freshman Holden Reeves added a home run for Polk and freshman Matt Singletary had three RBIs on two hits.

Polk improves to 30-8 overall and 7-4 in Suncoast Conference, while State College of Florida drops to 24-12-1 and 6-4 in Suncoast Conference play.

The Eagles are now tied for first in the conference with State College of Florida.

The Eagles and Manatees will play the second game of the series tomorrow in Winter Haven at 1 p.m.
