WINTER HAVEN - The Polk State Baseball team picked up another conference win Monday night when it took down the visiting Hawks of Hillsborough, 6-4.
The Eagles' overall record now stands at 35-9, including an 11-5 mark in Suncoast Conference play, while Hillsborough falls to 21-20 and 7-9 in the league.
Freshman Brett Jones' eighth-inning triple drove in the winning run for the Eagles. Jones finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate.
Six Polk players collected a hit in the contest.
Sophomore Chris Waltermire picked up the win in relief, and sophomore Reid Noah nabbed his fifth save of the season.
The two teams will meet again Wednesday at Tampa's Steinbrenner Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
