Norris Sets Save Record As Eagles Top Hillsborough

Polk State College sophomore closer Trey Norris (Frostproof) set the school's saves record Friday as the Eagles edged Hillsborough Community College 3-2 in Tampa.

Norris pitched the ninth for his 12th save of the season, breaking the previous school record of 11 in a season held by Reid Noah (2011) and Joey Upchurch (1994).

Eagle freshman Matt Pearce (Bonita Springs/3-0) posted the victory, holding the Hawks to two runs over eight innings.

Polk's Erik Hindmon (Ocala), Brett Jones (Plant City) and Daniel Sweet (Mississippi) drove in runs for Polk.

The victory was Polk's 11th in a row.

Polk is ranked first in the state and third in the NJCAA. The Eagles (20-2) host Hillsborough Saturday, March 2, at 1 p.m. in Winter Haven.
