Eagles collect 17 hits in win

The Polk State Eagles had 17 hits tonight, beating State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota 11-5 in Winter Haven. 

Daniel Sweet led the offensive attack, going 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a triple, a stolen base, and 3 runs scored. 

Casey Schroeder (1 for 3) had 2 RBI. Sam Machonis (2 for 5) doubled and drove in a run. JD Osborne (2 for 4) doubled and had 3 RBI. Luke Parker (2 for 4) added a double and a stolen base, and Matt Piatt went 2 for 5 with an RBI. 

Starting pitcher Jordan Barrett worked 5 innings and got the win. Jose Pupo, Cody Gamble, and Jose Serrano worked in relief. 

Polk State improves to 13-10 (4-4 in the Suncoast Conference). 

The Eagles face State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota again Wednesday on the road at 6 p.m.
