The hot-hitting Eagles won their tenth straight game tonight, beating South Florida State College 7-2 in Winter Haven.
Eagles hitters had a busy night, collecting 16 hits.
Daniel Sweet (3-for-5) and Sam Machonis (2-for-4) each scored a run and had two RBI. JD Osborne (1-for-4) doubled and scored a run. Cody DeNoyelles (2-for-5), Matt Piatt (3-for-3 with a walk), Cole Ondrejka (1-for-2), and Hayden Kelly (1-for-2) each scored a run.
South Florida scored its two runs of starting pitcher Hunter Kyzar, who worked five and one-third of an inning to pick up the win. He yielded 10 hits and struck out two. Relievers EJ Cordero and Jose Pupo combined to hold South Florida scoreless for the rest of the game.
Cordero got a key out in the top of the sixth when, with the Eagles leading 5-2, he got a fly ball out with two outs and the bases loaded to shut the door on a South Florida rally.
The Eagles (29-11, 17-5 in the Suncoast Conference) face South Florida State College again Friday at 6 p.m. in Avon Park.
