Eagles end regular season with shutout win

Polk State ended its regular season tonight, shutting out South Florida State College 12-0 in seven innings in Avon Park. 

Starter Casey Kulina scattered five hits over six innings, raising his record to 11-0. Luke Rolland and Justin Phelps pitched the seventh inning. 

On offense, every Eagle batter had at least one hit. 

Cody DeNoyelles went 4-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Daniel Sweet (2-for-3) doubled, walked, stole a base, drove in a run and scored three times. JD Osborne (1-for-3) had three RBI. Matt Piatt (1-for-4) had a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Alec Wong went 2-for-3 with a walk. Sam Machonis (1-for-4) had an RBI and a run scored. Arturo Tabales (1-for-3) walked, scored twice, and drove in a run. 

The Eagles end the regular season 36-12, 22-6 in the Suncoast Conference. They begin the state tournament May 9 at 10 a.m. against Palm Beach State at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
