Explosive offense leads Eagles to 14-2 win

Every Polk State starter reached base at least once and scored at least one run tonight as the Eagles battered Webber International JV 14-2 in Winter Haven. 

The Eagles, who had 14 hits, took a 1-0 lead in the first when Kaylor Kulina singled, stole second, and scored on Luke Parker's RBI single. 

They added four more runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Jackson and RBI singles by Keith Oren, JD Osborne, and Cole Ondrejka

The Warriors scored twice in the top of the fifth, but the Eagles added another run in the bottom of the inning when Kulina scored on a fielder's choice by Andrew Stroud

Polk State then broke the game open, scoring eight runs in the sixth. Jackson had the big blow of the inning, a three-run shot over the left field fence. 

Starting pitcher Jordan Barrett worked two innings and got the win, improving to 4-0. 

Following him to the mound, and pitching an inning apiece, were Dean Pelman, Jacob Kelley, David Lara, Jose Pupo, Jordan Guerrero, Cody Gamble, and Luis Ferrer

Kulina (three-for-four) scored three runs, stole two bases, and drove in a run. 

Parker went two-for-five with a run, an RBI, and three stolen bases. 

JD Osborne had a three-for-five night with two runs and an RBI. 

Matt Piatt (two-for-four) scored twice, walked once, and drove in a run. 

Jackson had two runs and four RBI. 

Ondrejka singled, walked, scored a run, and drove in a run. 

Stroud collected a single, a run, and an RBI. 

Oren had a single, a walk, and an RBI. 

Cody Burgess walked and scored a run. 

Pinch hitter Gage Peters drew a walk in his only plate appearance. 

The Eagles (12-7, No. 7 in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll) take on the University of Tampa JV on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Winter Haven.
