The Polk State Eagles clinched their second straight Suncoast Conference championship today, beating Hillsborough Community College 15-9 in Tampa.
It's the fourth conference championship for the Eagles in the last five seasons.
With one stolen base in the game, Luke Parker set a school record with 41 in a season.
JD Osborne had three RBI, tying him for the lead in Florida (NJCAA Region 8) with 50.
The Eagles also finished the season with the lowest team ERA in the state (2.38).
Trailing 5-3, the Eagles scored five runs in the fifth to go up 8-3. They never trailed again, adding seven runs over the final four innings.
The Eagles pounded out 17 hits in the contest.
Kyle Jackson homered for the third straight game. He finished the day two-for-five with two runs and three RBI.
Along with his three RBI, Osborne singled, doubled twice, stole a base, and scored twice.
Parker singled, walked twice, and scored three runs.
Cody Burgess went three-for-five with a run and two RBI.
Andrew Stroud collected a single, a double, and RBI and two runs scored.
Brandon Gali had two singles, three walks, three stolen bases, and two runs scored.
Matt Piatt singled, doubled, walked twice, drove in a run, and scored three.
Kaylor Kulina had a single, a stolen base, and an RBI.
The Eagles finish the regular season 35-14 (17-7 Suncoast Conference, No. 4 FCSAA). They begin play in the FCSAA/Region 8 State Tournament on May 8 at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
