Polk State begins the 2016 season ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Coaches' Poll and No. 18 in the 2016 Perfect Game Top 50 Junior College Teams

The Eagles won the Suncoast Conference championship in 2014 and 2015, and have set their sights on winning it again this season.

This year's team will rely heavily on freshman, as only six sophomores return from last year's squad.

"We are a young team, and I hope our club can mature quickly by the time Suncoast Conference play starts and show the consistency we will need to be a championship caliber club," said Head Coach Al Corbeil.

The Eagles start the season Jan. 29 against Lake-Sumter at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
