In a baseball battle of the birds, the Polk State Eagles soared past the Daytona State Falcons 4-2 today at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.

The Eagles got on the board in the first inning when Brandon Gali walked and scored an Isaiah Cullum's two-out single.

They added another run in the second inning after Zach Diewert reached second on an outfield error and scored on a single by Kaylor Kulina

In the third inning, the Eagles picked up their final two runs.

With two out, Raudy Martinez singled and stole second. Cody Burgess followed with a walk on a passed ball that sent Martinez to third. Diewert then drew a walk on four pitches, loading the bases. When Tommy Gamble was hit by a pitch, Martinez scored. Kulina then walked on four pitches, scoring Burgess and giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.

The Falcons scored twice in the sixth inning on a double, a walk, a sacrifice fly, and a single.

"There were tough conditions to play under today for both teams," said Head Coach Al Corbeil.
