Eagles soar past Lakehawks 5-2

Polk State defeated the Lake-Sumter State College Lakehawks 5-2 tonight in Leesburg. 

Starting pitcher Jordan Spicer worked six innings, allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five. 

Zach Schneider (1-0) got the win in relief. In two innings, he allowed no hits or runs while recording three strikeouts. 

Jacob Kelley earned the save, his fourth of the season. 

Isaiah Cullum had a home run and two RBI. 

Cody Burgess had three hits, two runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. 

Skylar Frey singled twice and drove in a run. 

Zach Biermann had a double and an RBI. 

Brandon Gali went 2-for-4 with a run scored. 

Yeison Gomez collected a single, a stolen base, and an RBI. 

Raudy Martinez singled, walked, stole a base, and scored a run. 

Tommy Gamble went 2-for-4. 

The Eagles (13-6, No. 10 FCSAA) play Rollins College JV on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
