Eagles defeat St. Pete 11-3

Polk State improved to 2-0 in the Suncoast Conference tonight with an 11-3 win over St. Petersburg College at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

With the score tied 1-1 after three innings, the Eagles scored a run in the fifth, four in the sixth, one in the seventh, and four in the eighth. 

Polk State had 11 hits in the game. 

Skylar Frey had four RBI with a home run and two runs scored. 

Zach Biermann also homered and scored three runs. 

Zach Diewert went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. 

Cole Warken had three singles, a run, and an RBI. 

Yeison Gomez went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. 

Cody Burgess had a single, a walk, a stolen base, and two runs. 

Brandon Gali collected three walks, a stolen base, and a run.

Raudy Martinez singled and walked. 

Starting pitcher Jordan Spicer improved to 4-0. In six and two-thirds innings he struck out 10 while walking two and allowing one run and four hits. 

Justin Tworek and Chad Tworek worked in relief. Each allowed a hit and a run.

The Eagles (17-6, 2-0, No. 9 FCSAA) face St. Petersburg again Friday at 6 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
