Eagles top Tampa JV 12-6

Polk State collected 15 hits in a 12-6 win over the University of Tampa JV today at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

Skylar Frey doubled twice, stole two bases, and scored two runs. 

Zach Diewert went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and two runs. 

Zach Biermann (3-for-5) drove in a pair of runs. 

Marquis Orozco had a 3-for-5 afternoon, with two doubles, two runs, a stolen base, and three RBI. 

Tyler DeClercq had a single, a double, a sacrifice, and a run scored. 

Bradley Harmon singled and scored twice. 

Raudy Martinez had a sacrifice fly, a run scored, and two RBI. 

Cole Warken doubled and scored a run. 

Isaiah Cullum reached base on a single and scored, 

Jonah Garrison and Zach Scott each drove in a run.

Starting pitcher Shameko Smith improved to 2-0. In six innings he allowed two runs (one unearned) on six hits while walking one and striking out eight. 

Drew Marino, Pat Doudican, and Julio Blanco each worked an inning in relief. 

The Eagles (10-2, No. 3 FCSAA, No. 11 NJCAA) travel to Gainesville on Monday to face Santa Fe College (No. 8 FCSAA, No. 8 NJCAA) at 3 p.m.
