Eagles pound Pasco-Hernando 16-2

Polk State had 12 hits in a 16-2 win over Pasco-Hernando State College today at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

With the score tied at 1, the Eagles broke the game open with four runs in the third, four in the fourth, five in the fifth, and solo runs in the seventh and eighth. 

Zach Scott (3-for-4) led the offensive attack with a double, a home run, two stolen bases, two runs, and six RBI. 

Austin Hoffman also homered, walked, stole a base, drove in a run, and scored twice. 

Cole Warken went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, a walk, an RBI, and three runs. 

Skylar Frey singled, doubled, scored twice, and drove in a run. 

Zach Diewert had a single, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI, and two runs. 

Zach Biermann drew three walks, singled, drove in a run, and scored twice. 

Raudy Martinez had two walks, two stolen bases, a run, and an RBI. 

Marquis Orozco went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run. 

Isaiah Cullum had a sacrifice fly and an RBI. 

Zach Schneider, the third of six Polk State pitchers, got the win, his first of the season. In one and two-thirds on an inning he allowed no hits or runs while striking out three. 

Shameko Smith started on the mound. In three innings he allowed a run on five hits, walking two and striking out five. 

Julio Blanco, Drew Marino, Cole Crowder, and Pat Doudican all saw action out of the bullpen. 

The Eagles (13-3, No. 3 FCSAA, No. 11 NJCAA) play Santa Fe College (12-6, No. 5 FCSAA, No. 8 NJCAA) at 5 p.m. Monday at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
