Eagles soar past Hawks 4-2

Polk State beat Hillsborough Community College 4-2 this afternoon in Tampa. 

After the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the fourth, the Eagles tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth. 

They added solo runs in the seventh and eighth innings. 

Jordan Spicer earned the win, improving his record to 6-0. In six innings he allowed two runs (one unearned) on 10 hits, walking none and striking out four. 

Luis Ferrer took over in the seventh and hurled two hitless innings. 

Zach Schneider picked up his fifth save. 

The Eagles collected seven hits. 

Zach Scott went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and three RBI. 

Zach Diewert homered, singled, scored a run, and drove in a run. 

Jonah Garrison drew three walks and scored twice. 

Skylar Frey singled, walked, and scored. 

The Eagles (32-10, 16-5, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 8 NJCAA) hit the road again Friday to play Florida Southwestern at 5 p.m. in Fort Myers.
