Eagles down Falcons at Daytona State

Polk State got back in the win column today, beating Daytona State 4-2 in Daytona Beach. 

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but the Falcons answered with a pair of runs in the following inning. 

Polk State rallied for three runs in the seventh and held the Falcons scoreless for the rest of the game. 

Evan Johnson homered, scored a run, and drove in two. 

Cody Oerther also had a home run along with a run and an RBI. 

Danny Berg singled, walked, stole a base, and scored a run.

Mitch Osborne went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. 

Chase Ashby had a single and a stolen base. 

Pat Doudican started on the mound, allowing two runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out seven. 

Bryce Van Horn (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless sixth inning. 

Billy McKay picked up his first save of the season with three no-hit innings. 

The Eagles (2-3, No. 7 FCSAA, No. 12 NJCAA) have a rematch with Daytona State tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
