Eagles rally to beat Seminole State

Polk State snapped a two-game losing streak tonight, beating Seminole State College 6-5 at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

Trailing 4-2 in the seventh inning, the Eagles rallied for three runs and a 5-4 lead. 

After the Raiders scored a solo run to tie the game in the eighth, the Eagles answered with the winning run in the bottom of the inning. 

Chavez Fernander (1-0) struck out the side in the top of the ninth to earn the win. 

Starting pitcher Pat Doudican worked six and two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out nine. 

Leadoff hitter Cody Oerther went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs, and two stolen bases. 

Chase Ashby singled twice, walked once scored twice and stole two bases. 

Mile Simington had a triple a walk, a run, and two RBI. 

Danny Berg had a 2-for-3 game with a triple, a walk, a run, and two RBI. 

The Eagles (4-5, No. 10 FCSAA, No. 12 NJCAA) hit the road Friday for a 2 p.m. game against Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg.
