Eagles rally to beat Palm Beach 3-1

Trailing 1-0, Polk State rallied to beat Palm Beach State College (No. 5 FCSAA) 3-1 tonight at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.

 After five scoreless innings, Palm Beach put a run on the board in the sixth inning.

The Eagles tied it with a run in the seventh and added two in the eighth.

Cody Oerther had the game-winning hit with an RBI single in the eighth.

Zach Scott 's single made it 3-1

Palm Beach put the potential tying runs on base in the top of the ninth on a bunt single and a bloop single off Pat DoudicanBilly McKay came in from the bullpen and shut the door, retiring three straight hitters, two of them on strikeouts.

Polk State collected five hits and four walks. 

Trent Sinkfield had a double and an RBI.

Nico Limoncelli went 1-for-2 with a run and a pair of walks.

Alec Barger started on the mound and allowed a run and three hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out nine.

Doudican walked none and struck out five in two innings.

The Eagles (8-9) play Webber International at 6 p.m. Monday in Babson Park.
