Berg has six RBI as Eagles shut out Florida Southern JV 16-0

Danny Berg homered and drove in six runs as Polk State soared to its fourth straight win tonight, shutting out the Florida Southern College JV 16-0 at Henley Field in Lakeland. 

It was also the fourth game this season in which the Eagles have scored at least 10 runs. 

Every Eagles batter had at least one hit and scored at least one run. 

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. They went on to score five in the fifth, another five in the sixth, two in the seventh, and one in the eighth. 

Berg went 3-for-5 with a triple and a three-run homer. He also stole a base, scored twice and drove in six runs. 

Zach Scott singled twice, scored twice, walked, and drove in two runs. 

Trent Sinkfield had a double, a walk, two runs, and two RBI. 

Sam Koruschak collected a pair of singles and scored twice. 

Christian Nehls singled, walked, and scored three runs. 

Miles Simington had a single, a triple, and a run. 

Rhys Cratty went 2-for-5 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs. 

Mitch Osborne had a single, a sacrifice fly, a run, and an RBI. 

Nico Limoncelli singled, stole second, scored a run, and drove in a run. 

Four Eagles pitchers combined for 21 strikeouts. 

Chavez Fernander started, and in four innings he allowed Florida Southern's only two hits of the game. He walked one and struck out seven. 

Alec Barger (2-0) picked up the win, working one inning and striking out the side in the fifth. 

Pat Doudican hurled three no-hit innings with eight strikeouts. 

Billy McKay worked the ninth, striking out the side to end the game. 

The Eagles (10-9) play the University of Tampa JV at 5 p.m. Friday at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

Polk State begins Suncoast Conference play Monday at 5 p.m. against St. Petersburg College in St. Pete.
