Eagles rally to beat Bucs

Trailing 4-0 after four innings, Polk State rallied for a 7-4 win over the Florida Southwestern Buccaneers today at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

The Eagles started their comeback with a solo run in the fifth and added four in the seventh, taking a 5-4 lead.  They added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth.

Rhys Cratty went 2-for-2 with two runs, a walk, and an RBI.

Trent Sinkfield doubled, walked, drove in a run, and scored twice.

Cody Oerther had a single, a double, a run scored, and two RBI.

Christian Nehls went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Chase Ashby had a walk, a sacrifice fly, a run, and an RBI. 

Miles Simington singled and drove in a run.

The Bucs scored their runs off starting pitcher Alec Barger, who allowed seven hits in 2.1 innings.

Julio Blanco, Bryce Van Horn, Jared Freilich, and Billy McKay combined to shut out Florida Southwestern the rest of the game.

McKay (3-2) earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out four in three innings.

The Eagles (17-18, 6-9) travel to Tampa Monday for a 6 p.m. game against the University of Tampa JV.
