Polk State scored 11 runs today but lost 15-11to St. Petersburg College at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Eagles found themselves trailing 15-5 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and facing a run-rule loss. Miles Watson then blasted a three-run home run, cutting the deficit to 15-8 and giving Polk State the chance to play at least one more inning.
Watson had a single, two walks, and a stolen base along with his home run.
Berg went 2-for-5 with a double, a walk, two RBI, and three runs.
Scott singled twice and scored twice.
Koruschak had a 2-for-4 day with a walk and four RBI.
Miles Simington doubled, walked twice, and scored twice.
Starting pitcher Pat Doudican allowed five runs (one unearned) on five hits in 4.2 innings. He walked two and struck out six.
The Eagles (19-19, 6-10) play St. Pete again Monday at 6 p.m. in St. Petersburg.
