Eagles lose on road to Manatees

Polk State lost to State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota 9-3in eight innings last night in Bradenton.

After the Manatees jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Eagles tied it with a pair of runs in the third.

The Manatees put single runs on the board in the fourth and sixth innings. The Eagles cut the lead to 4-3 with a run in the eighth, but the Manatees scored five I the bottom of the frame for the run-rule victory.

Sam Koruschak continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Trent Sinkfield singled and hit a solo home run.

Rhys Cratty had a single, a walk, and a run.

Cody Oerther singled twice in five at-bats.

Starting pitcher Pat Doudican allowed three runs on five hits in three innings, He walked one and struck out three.  

In two innings, Julio Blanco gave up an unearned run and three hits.

Danny Madden, Jared Freilich, Billy McKay, and Bryce Van Horn appeared in relief.  

The Eagles (21-2-, 8-11) play the Manatees again today at 1 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
