Eagles top Florida Southwestern in extra innings

Polk State scored two runs in the top of the 11thinning to beat Florida Southwestern 6-4 today in Fort Myers. 

The Eagles trailed 4-2 before scoring a pair of runs in the eighth to tie the game. 

Danny Berg went 4-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base, and two runs. 

Zach Scott homered, singled twice, walked, scored a run, and drove in two runs. 

Cody Oerther had a pair of singles and a run. 

Miles Simington singled twice and drove in a run. 

Sam Koruschak had a triple and a run scored. 

Nico Limoncelli also tripled and stole a base. 

Trent Sinkfield singled, walked twice, and drove in two runs. 

Billy McKay earned the win in relief. In 3.1 shutout innings he allowed one hit, walking two and striking out three. 

Starting pitcher Pat Doudican gave up seven hits and four runs (two earned) in 6.2 innings. He walked one and struck out 10. 

The Eagles (27-23, 14-14) play Florida Southwestern again Monday at 6 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
