Eagles beat Bucs 6-2 in final home game

Polk State won its final home game of the season tonight, defeating Florida Southwestern 6-2

The Eagles broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning. 

Rhys Cratty led off with a single, moved to third on a sacrifice by Nico Limoncelli, and scored on Danny Berg's double. Zach Scott followed with a double, scoring Berg. 

Polk State added a run the following inning after Miles Simington doubled and scored on Cratty's single. 

In the fifth inning the Eagles scored two more runs.  

Berg singled and scored on a single by Scott, who then took second on a single by Trent Sinkfield and scored on a bunt by Limoncelli. 

The Buccaneers put solo runs on the board in the sixth and seventh innings. 

The Eagles scored their final run in the eighth inning when Chase Ashby scored on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Sam Koruschak

Berg went 3-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored. 

Scott singled twice, scored once, and drove in two runs. 

Simington went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. 

Cratty had two singles, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored.  

Starting pitcher Julio Blanco blanked the Bucs for three innings, allowing a hit and a walk. 

Bryce Van Horn tossed two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out two. 

Danny Madden yielded two runs on two hits in 1.2 innings. 

Jared Freilich earned his fourth save, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out four in 2.1 innings. 

The Eagles (28-23, 15-14) end the season Wednesday against Florida Southwestern at 6 p.m. in Fort Myers.
