The Polk State Eagles began the 2019 baseball season yesterday with 10-2 win over Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg, Fla.
The Eagles collected 14 hits, all singles except for a triple by Tor Sehnert.
After the Lakehawks took a 1-0 lead on a home run in the first inning, the Eagles answered with five runs in the second. They added three in the third inning and two more in the sixth.
"It's always great to start the season with a win, and it's good to see the guys swing the bats well," said Head Coach Al Corbeil.
Leadoff man Nico Limoncelli singled, walked twice, score a run, and drove in three.
Sam Koruschak went two-for-two with a pair of runs.
Jaisen Randolph had a busy day, singling twice, walking once, stealing two bases, scoring twice, and driving in a run.
Trent Sinkfield singled twice and scored twice.
James Boldin collected two single, two runs, and an RBI.
Danny Berg added a pair of singles and a run.
The Eagles play their home opener Monday when they take on Eastern Florida at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
