Polk State improved to 3-0 tonight with a 12-5 win over Warner University JV at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
Koruschak also scored Polk State's second run when he tripled in the third inning and scored on a wild pitch. An RBI double by Trent Sinkfield made it a 3-0 game.
In the fourth inning, an RBI single by Demetrio Rodriguez put the Eagles up 4-0.
The following inning, Polk State sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring five runs and taking a 9-0 lead.
The Royals, however, took advantage of walks and an error in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 9-5.
The Eagles responded with a run in the bottom of the seventh, a pair in the eighth, and Danny Berg retired the side in order in the top of the ninth, giving Polk State the win.
Starting pitcher Brandon Willliams (1-0) earned the win. In five shutout innings he allowed two hits and a walk, striking out four.
Every Eagle starter had at least one hit or one run.
Koruschak scored twice, stole two bases, and drove in a run.
Demetrio Rodriguez went two-for-three with a run, three RBI, three stolen bases, and a sacrifice fly.
Lazaro Rodriguez doubled and scored a run.
Berg had a two-for-five game with two runs and an RBI.
The Eagles (3-0) play again Wednesday against Broward College at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard.
