Eagles soar to four in a row

Polk State won its fourth straight game last night, beating Broward College 3-1at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.  

The undefeated Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back walks to Nico Limoncelli and Sam Koruschak and Brady Gulakowski's one-out RBI single.  

After the Seahawks scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game, the Eagles answered with solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings. 

Polk State continued to have strong pitching as starter Reese Jackowiak (1-0) earned the win. In four shutout innings he allowed no hits, walking four and striking out four. 

Zavien Lindsey, Timothy Watkins, and Jake Curry worked in relief, and Billy McKay pitched the final two innings, picking up his first save. 

Eagle hitters collected five hits and six walks. 

Gulakowski went two-for-three with two RBI. 

James Boldin singled and walked. 

Nick Wells had a walk, an RBI, and a sacrifice fly. 

Koruschak walked twice and scored once. 

The Eagles (4-0) hit the road Friday for a 2 p.m. game at Daytona State College.
