Eagles win at home against Florida Southern

Polk State defeated Florida Southern B 14-1 tonightat Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

The Eagles, who had 16 hits, took an 8-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the fourth and five in the fifth. 

Nick Wells went 2-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base, and two RBI. 

Trent Sinkfield also homered, walked, scored twice, and drove in two runs. 

James Boldin went 4-for-5 with a double and a triple, a stolen base, two runs, and three RBI. 

Danny Berg singled twice, walked three times, score twice, and drove in a pair of runs. 

Sam Koruschak went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs, and three RBI. 

Demetrio Rodriguez had a single, a triple, and an RBI. 

Dalton Boyd reached base twice on walks, stole a base, and scored a run. 

Starting pitcher Kyle Gamble picked up his first win of the season. In 5.2 innings he allowed a run on four hits, walking none and striking out four. 

Reese Jackowiak, Zavien Lindsey, Timothy Watkins, and Carter Slentz pitched in relief.  

Polk State (9-10) hits the road tomorrow for a 4 p.m. game at Rollins College.
