James Boldin hit a three-run homer with two outs in the third inning to give Polk State a 5-0 lead, but Hillsborough Community College battled back to win 8-5 today at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Nico Limoncelli led off with a walk on four pitches, stole second, moved to third on Tor Sehnert's single, and scored on Danny Berg's sacrifice fly.

Sehnert stole second and took third on a throwing error then scored when Boldin reached first on an error.

Two innings later, after Trent Sinkfield walked on four pitches and Sehnert reached base on an error, Boldin blasted the first pitch over the left field fence, giving Polk State a 5-0 advantage.

The Hawks began their comeback with three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and the tying run in the seventh. They then put three runs on the board in the eighth and went on to win 8-5, collecting 12 hits and seven walks in the contest.

The Eagles, who scored their runs on four hits and three walks, were held hitless after the fifth inning.

Limoncelli had a single, a walk, a stolen base, and a run.

Sehnert went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs.

Boldin had four RBI.

Billy McKay (1-3) took the loss in relief, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks.

Making his first start on the mound this season, Berg worked 3.2 innings and yielded three runs (one unearned) on four hits and a walk.

Brandon Willliams, Carter Slentz, Timothy Watkins, Alex Goff, and Reese Jackowiak pitched in relief.

The Eagles (12-16, 2-6) play Hillsborough (14-14, 4-4) again Monday at 3 p.m. in Tampa.
