Polk State lost to Hillsborough Community College 4-3 in 14 innings today in Tampa.
After the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, the Eagles put three runs on the board in the fifth. Hillsborough responded with a run in the sixth, and neither team scored until the Hawks got the winning run in the 14th.
Tor Sehnert went 2-for-5 with a walk and a triple.
Trent Sinkfield singled and drove in two runs.
Nico Limoncelli had a double and two walks.
Sam Koruschak singled, walked, and scored a run.
Drew Howard went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run.
Demetrio Rodriguez also walked and scored a run.
Alex Goff (1-3) took the loss in relief. He pitched the final 4.2 innings, allowing a run on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Billy McKay, making his first start this season, worked six innings and yielded three runs (one unearned) on four hits. He walked two and struck out five.
Jake Curry tossed 2.2 scoreless innings.
The Eagles (12-17, 2-7) play South Florida State College (11-20, 2-7) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
