Eagles soar past Hawks in 10 innings

The Polk State Eagles won another extra-inning game today, beating the Hillsborough Community College Hawks 6-4 in 10 innings in Tampa. 

Polk State's last three wins came in extra innings, and the Eagles are 4-0 this season in extra-inning games. 

After the Eagles got on the board first with a run in the fourth inning, the Hawks scored a pair of runs in the fifth.  

Polk State then tied it at four in the sixth, and neither team scored again until the 10th inning.  

The Eagles rallied for four runs in the top of the frame, and the Hawks scored two but could get no closer in the bottom of the inning.  

Starting pitcher Billy McKay (4-5) got the win. In nine innings he allowed two runs (one earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out five. 

Alex Goff picked up his second save. In the 10thinning he gave up two runs on four hits, walking none and striking out three. 

The Eagles collected 12 hits.

Brady Gulakowski singled twice, walked, and drove in a run. 

Sam Koruschak had a 3-for-5 game with a double and an RBI. 

Tor Sehnert singled, walked, scored a run, and drove in a run. 

Trent Sinkfield had a double, a run, and two RBI. 

Nico Limoncelli singled and score twice, and James Boldin singled and drove in a run. 

The Eagles (22-22, 10-12) play Hillsborough (23-19, 14-7) again Friday at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
