Getting to Know: Sidney Sanders

Winter Haven — Sophomore point guard Sidney Sanders rapped a fine career for Head Coach Matt Furjanic and his basketball program. Sanders led the team in almost every statistical category this season.

Sanders will be taking his talents to Fairleigh Dickinson University for his junior season and prior to his departure from Winter Haven he sat down with Sports Information Coordinator Terrell Elliston to see what keeps him busy off of the court.  

TE: Why did you decide to come to Polk?
SS: I decided to come to Polk because I wanted to play basketball.

TE: What are your post-graduation plans?
SS: I will be attending Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and pursuing my bachelor's degree in business.    

TE: Who is your funniest teammate?
SS: I would have to say Deljavon Simmons.

TE: If you could travel any place in the world, where would you go and why?
SS: I would travel to Puerto Rico to relax and enjoy the beach.

TE: What/who inspired you to get involved with basketball?
SS: I enjoyed watching my older sibling play, so I decided to play.

TE: What do you like best about team road trips?
SS: The laughs my teammates and I have after we win.

TE: What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
SS: Loud people, they annoy me.

TE: What is an obstacle in life you had to overcome?
SS: Staying away from the streets.

TE:  Favorite place to play in the Suncoast Conference besides Polk?
SS: St. Petersburg College.
