Polk State beat Indian River State College 76-43 tonight in Winter Haven.

The Eagles jumped out to a 10-1 lead and never trailed. They led 32-17 at halftime.

Polk State opened the second half with a 13-0 run, as the Pioneers failed to score a point in the first seven minutes.

"It feels good to get back home and get a win," said Head Coach Matt Furjanic.

"I was really pleased with our defensive effort. That set the tone.  We gave up 17 points in first half and 26 in the second half, and we didn't have any letup. That's what I'm most proud of, that we put 40 minutes of defense together. When you do that, good things will happen to a basketball team."

Shafeek Taylor led the Eagles with 15 points.

Darell Porter added 12 points while Tohi Smith-Milner contributed 11.

The Eagles (6-5) take on Daytona State at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Winter Haven.
