The Polk State Eagles soared to their eighth straight win tonight, beating Florida State College at Jacksonville 77-66 in Winter Haven.
Polk State jumped out to a 3-0 lead and had a 36-26 advantage at halftime.
"The first half we struggled a little bit but the second half we really picked up the intensity and did a good job," said Head Coach Matt Furjanic.
"We went with a small lineup and the guys stepped up with some pressure, and FSC was a tough team to defend against because they went with a small lineup too."
While he enjoys the team's winning streak, Furjanic sees room for improvement.
"We have some tough games coming up," he said. "They don't get any easier. We still need to continue to improve, we still need to get in better condition, and we still need to put 40 minutes together where everyone's giving the same intensity. "
The Eagles (12-5 and ranked No. 10 in Florida in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll) take on College of Central Florida on Saturday 4 p.m. in Winter Haven.
