
In a battle of the birds, the Polk State Eagles beat the Hillsborough Community College Hawks 72-57 today in Suncoast Conference basketball in Tampa.
The Eagles led 32-29 at halftime and 54-51 with 5:10 remaining.
They then outscored the Hawks 18-6 to put the game out of reach.
Dominique Reid led the Eagles with 19 points.
Kahleek Bakare-Whyte had 13 points, while Troy Simons added 12.
Darelle Porter recorded nine points, and Dayjar Dickson finished with seven.
With the victory, Polk State has won five in a row, including four straight Suncoast Conference games.
The Eagles (19-6, 4-0, No. 7 FCSAA) hit the road Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game at St. Petersburg State College.
