Polk State Basketball will host Special Olympics Night on Saturday, Feb. 6, as the Eagles play State College of Florida in a Suncoast Conference matchup at 4 p.m.

Special Olympians will arrive at 3 p.m. and tour the gym, the coaches' office, and the basketball locker room.

During halftime, Special Olympics athletes will play a basketball game.

Right before the second half starts, Shelley Henry, Polk County Director of Special Olympics, will make a special presentation to the Eagles coaches and athletes in recognition of their support of Special Olympics.

"Our basketball team did a volunteer event back in December for the Polk County Special Olympics Basketball Competition," said Head Coach Matt Furjanic. "They were very excited and grateful for the enthusiasm our players showed by being there all day and interacting with the athletes."

After the game, Special Olympians will gather for photos with the players and coaches.
