Polk State's freshman basketball players, who belong to the College's Brother to Brother program, visited Garner Elementary School in Winter Haven on March 11.
During a Brother to Brother Mentor-Mentee session, some of Garner's male students in grades two through five were paired with the Polk State student-athletes.
"Thank you Polk State basketball players Troy Simons, Karim Mouliom, Malik Colvin-Seldon, and Kahleek Bakare-Whyte, along with James Arnold and Dr. Terrance Hays, for being willing to embrace our school's vision and partner with us in helping young males become more productive and successful," said Dr. Crystal Richardson, principal of Garner Elementary.
Brother to Brother is primarily comprised of male students at Polk State who strive for academic excellence and make a commitment to plan and implement programs that benefit their community at large. Participants embrace leadership by being positive examples for each other through a strong commitment to academic achievements, brotherhood, and community service.
