Eagles win home opener

In its home opener, Polk State earned its first win of the basketball season last night, defeating Red Devil Prep 89-47 in Winter Haven.

The Eagles had a 42-23 lead at the half,

Troy Simons led the Eagles with 26 points, shooting 11 for 12 from the field and four for five from three-point range.

Charles Humphries scored 16 points.

Kareem Chever-Moore had nine points and eight assists.

Richard Gaetano scored nine points, and Branislav Labudovic grabbed nine rebounds 

The Eagles (1-1) hit the road Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game at Daytona State College.
