Trailing 68-64 in the second half, Polk State rallied to beat Harcum College 80-75 tonight in Winter Haven.

"I'm pleased with our team's effort tonight," said Head Coach Brandon Giles.

"It really feels good to get the win tonight before we start conference play on Saturday.

"We've been talking all along over the holiday break that it's a new season for us now, and we put a huge emphasis on winning this first game after the break. It's always good to go into conference play with a little bit of momentum.

"I would definitely like to point out Stefan Nakic for responding tonight. I was on him pretty hard there early in the second half but had a great response and was our MVP of this game."

Nakic finished with 14 points and shot eight-for-eight from the free-throw line.

Kadeem Webb led the Eagles with 23 points. He shot five-for-10 from three-point range.

Bryan Polanco scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Walt Covington had 11 points while Broderick Oliver had seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

Milz Tatum recorded seven points, five assists, and two rebounds.

The Eagles (3-14) begin Suncoast Conference play Saturday against Hillsborough Community College at 4 p.m. in Winter haven.
