Thank You from Head Coach Brandon Giles

Greetings, Polk State Eagles family.

I'd like to start off by saying THANK YOU! There are no words that can describe my gratitude to you for your continued support of the Polk State basketball program.

I recently marked my one-year anniversary on the job, and I thought it was necessary to take time to reflect. Upon my acceptance of the position I knew the task ahead would be daunting, but I eagerly accepted the challenge. I now understand, more than ever, the true meaning of team. The support you have shown through the highs and lows of this year does not go unacknowledged. Our players, coaches, and staff have so much appreciation for the support you have given our program.

Maintaining my father's legacy and honoring what was built by Coach Matt Furjanic at Polk State is a part of my everyday objective. However, I strive to go above and beyond that. Giving young men an avenue to achieve greatness on and off the court through basketball is what our program prides itself on.

This year, we had one Academic All-American, four All-State Academic Team selections, three All- Conference selections and five student-athletes sign letters of intent to four-year universities.

Stefan Nakic will be attending Florida College, Kadeem Webb will be attending Thomas University, Quinton Hamilton will be attending the University of Ottawa, and Bryan Polanco will be attending Alderson Broaddus University.

In a short amount of time, we have been blessed with new housing for the team, newly renovated locker rooms and office space, additional food sponsors for team meals, and a newly formed booster club meeting space called The Eagle's Nest. The Nest, as it is affectionately called, is a space where club members can watch the games, have fellowship, and enjoy a laugh and a bite to eat. We are always recruiting new members, so please contact me for more information.

Heading into our first home game of the season, I can remember attendance being a concern for those close to the program. This year, we increased attendance by a substantial amount, and I credit it all to the community. You have made attending Polk State basketball games the talk of the town. You have welcomed our commitment to excellence with open arms. This fits within our team motto, "Together Winners." Together, WE will bring the Polk State basketball program back to prominence!

We look forward to sharing many more memories with our fans as we seek to hang another championship banner in The Eagle's Nest. Our future is bright, as we have a group of players, coaches, and staff that want to make a difference not only in the community but also in the classroom.

So again, to all the of the public officials, school board members, business owners, community leaders, and fans for welcoming our program into the community, I extend an overdue but heartfelt thank you. All the best!

Soar, Eagles!
