The Polk State soared past the Hillsborough Community College Hawks 98-67 tonight in Winter Haven.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-0 in the Suncoast Conference and remain undefeated on their home court.

"It feels good, it definitely does, but we have a lot more work to do," said Head Coach Brandon Giles.

"It's still early in conference play so we can't get complacent or feel like we've arrived. We have the number-two team in the country [Florida Southwestern] coming up on Saturday, so that's a big game for us, but I'm proud of our guys for taking care of business before we get there Saturday.

"I'm happy with 3-0, but we're going to continue to push hard in practice, work every day, and hopefully make some more noise in the state of Florida."

Leading Polk State to a season-high 98 points, Alsean Evans and Tekorian "TK" Smith each scored 18.

Leighton Elliott-Sewell had 15 points and three rebounds.

Marlon Suarez added 10 points while Christian Woolridge finished with nine points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Bernat Vanaclocha grabbed nine rebounds, and Milz Tatum added five, points, five rebounds, and four assists.

The Eagles (10-9, 3-0) travel to Fort Myers on Saturday to face Florida Southwestern (18-1, 2-0, No. 1 FCSAA, No. 2 NJCAA) at 4 p.m.
