Six Eagles scored in double figures tonight as Polk State broke a two-game losing streak with a 118-87 win against Pasco-Hernando State College in Winter Haven.
With the season-high 118 points in the nonconference game, the Eagles improved to 10-2 on their home court.
Head Coach Brandon Giles said tonight's win gave the team confidence at it heads into the final three games of the regular season.
"It definitely does. We needed a feel-good win, and tonight was that night.
"All the guys were able to contribute, all the guys were able to get pretty good minutes of playing time, so it was definitely the type of game we needed because we have a tough one coming up on Saturday at St. Pete.
"It's an important game for the conference standings so we have to make sure we go on the road and do the tougher things and handle business."
Tekorian "TK" Smith led both teams with 35 points. He went 3-for-3 at the free-throw line and made four rebounds.
Milz Tatum finished with 22 points, shooting 5-for-9 on three-pointers and 7-for-7 on free throws. He also made seven assists and three rebounds.
Christian Woolridge scored 18 points, went 5-for-5 on free throws, and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Caleb Townsend collected 14 points and four rebounds.
Marlon Suarez had 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Janiel Jafet "JJ" Romer Rosario also scored 10 points to go with seven rebounds.
The Eagles (12-14, 4-5) return to Suncoast Conference action Saturday with a 4 p.m. game at St. Petersburg College (15-13, 3-7).
