Eagles upset No. 4 Chipola 73-69

Polk State beat another nationally ranked team on the road tonight with a 73-69 win against Chipola College (No. 4 FCSAA, No. 15 NJCAA) in Marianna, Fla. 

The Eagles have won four in a row – all on the road -- and have defeated three of the top 15 teams in the nation in seven days. Head Coach Brandon Giles, in his  third season at Polk State, saw the Eagles win a total of four road games in his first two years.   

Malcolm Stevenson led all scorers with 25 points to go with five rebounds and two assists.

Clarence Jackson scored 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and made two assists. 

Tekorian "TK" Smith also had 14 points, adding four assists. 

Tommie Lewis contributed nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists. 

Bernat Vanaclocha Sanchez finished with eight points and four rebounds. 

The Eagles out-rebounded the Indians 35-28 and forced 14 turnovers.  

Polk State (10-2, No. 7 FCSAA) returns to action next weekend against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Saturday and Pensacola State (No. 6 FCSAA) on Sunday at the JUCO Shootout in Ocala.
