Eagles Scare No. 2 Tallahassee in FCSAA Opener

PENSACOLA – Polk State lost a close game to No. 2 Tallahassee Community College in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 8B/FCSAA Gulf District Softball Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Tallahassee's Cherise McEnery's solo home run in the bottom of the fifth broke a 2-2 tie as Tallahassee hung on for a 3-2 win over the Eagles.

Tallahassee broke a scoreless tie in the third when Amanda Ake led off the inning with a solo home run. Later in the inning, Dallas Towns scored from third on Devin Kochergen's infield single.

The Eagles knotted the score at two apiece in the fourth when sophomore Molly Billue hit a two run home run.

Billue had a solid game for the Eagles. She pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs and hit 1-for-3.

Freshmen Jennifer Hamil and Michelle Sexton hit 1-for-3.   

The Eagles fall into the loser's bracket to play Northwest Florida State College at 8 p.m. in an elimination game.
