Polk Softball Puts Five on All-Suncoast Honors List

WINTER HAVEN - Five members of the Polk State Softball squad have been selected for the 2012 All-Suncoast Conference Team.  The all-league honorees were chosen by conference coaches based on their entire play this season.

Sophomore outfielder Sarah Aylesworth and freshman infielder Jennifer Hamil earned first-team nods. Freshman pitcher Courtney Putnam and sophomore outfielder Valerie Proulx picked up second-team accolades. Sophomore infielder/pitcher Molly Billue rounded out the honorees with a spot on the Honorable Mention team.  

Aylesworth played in 51 games as a sophomore. She had a .372 batting average and stole 20 bases out of 22.

Hamil had a solid freshman season for the Eagles. She appeared in 53 games, had a .346 batting average and was second on the team in RBIs with 30.

Putnam appeared in 35 games for the Eagles, tossing 175 innings and striking out 100 opponents.

Proulx played in 50 games. She had a .345 batting percentage, hit six home runs, and led the team with 35 RBIs.  

Billue played in 50 games, had a .299 batting average, 24 RBIs and five home runs.
