WINTER HAVEN — This edition of "Getting to Know" features rising sophomore Jennifer Hamil of Polk State Softball. The Texas native had an outstanding freshman season for the Eagles. She received First Team Suncoast Conference honors and the team's Gold Glove Award for Best Defensive Player.
It may be the summer offseason, but Hamil is hard at work getting ready for next year. She was nice enough to take a few minutes with Sports Information Coordinator Terrell Elliston to give a little more of an in-depth look at herself.
TE: Why did you decide to come to Polk?
JH: I'm from Texas, so I wanted to get out of the state and Florida sounded nice.
TE: What are your post-graduation plans?
JH: I want to continue playing softball at a university.
TE: Who is your funniest teammate?
JH: Sarah Aylesworth
TE: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
JH: Hawaii, because it's always been a fantasy of mine.
TE: What/who inspired you to get involved with baseball?
JH: My dad
TE: What do you like best about team road trips?
JH: Our talks on the bus
TE: What is your best non-athletic skill?
TE: What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
JH: When people wake me up — I'm grouchy in the mornings.
TE: What is one thing that most people don't know about you?
JH: I'm a picky eater.
