Polk to Hold Walk-On Tryouts for Softball Team

WINTER HAVEN — Anyone interested in playing for Polk State College Softball will get a chance to step up to the plate next month.

A one-day, walk-on tryout will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Aug. 30, at Polk State College's Winter Haven campus, 999 Ave. H N.E.  

Prospective players should first report to the track, near the Polk State Baseball field. Players are required to pass a conditioning test, which consists of running one mile in under eight minutes. Those who pass the conditioning test will advance in the tryout process, moving on to hitting, pitching and fielding drills.

Those who are trying out must be full-time Polk State College students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per term. Players must also show proof that they have undergone a physical examination within the past year.
