Montgomery Fans 13 in 11-0 Victory

Eagle freshman Kayla Montgomery threw a one-hitter to lead the Polk State College softball team to an 11-0, five-inning victory over the Findlandia University (Michigan) junior varsity team Wednesday in Clermont.

Montgomery (Lakeland/George Jenkins) fanned 13 and walked three while raising her record to 6-2.

She lost the no-hitter with two outs in the fifth.

Freshman Kaitlyn Warren (Mulberry) drove in two. Freshman Lara Cecchetti (Italy), freshman Stephanie Koutsoumbaris (Palm Harbor) and freshman Maggie Roberts (Lakeland/Lake Gibson) also drove in runs.

The sixth-ranked Eagles (21-8) host eighth-ranked College of Central Florida (15-8) today, March 7, at 5 and 7 p.m. at the DiamondPlex in Winter Haven.
