Eagles sweep St. Pete

Polk State won both games of a doubleheader against St. Pete College tonight in Winter Haven. 

The Eagles took the first game 4-2, with Haleigh Corbally (11-3) pitching a complete game.

On offense, Rose Stevens (2-for-3) stole two bases and scored a run. Stephanie Koutsoumbaris went 2-for-2 with an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Erica Morrisey (1-for-3) drove in a run. Kayla Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a double, and Deanna Littles (1-for-3) doubled and drove in a pair of runs. 

In game two, Kayla Montgomery (13-4) tossed a complete-game, 3-hit shutout as the Eagles won 8-0 in 6 innings. 

At the plate, Erica Morrisey (3-for-4) tripled, hit a 2-run home run, and drove in 3 runs to lead the offense. Stephanie Koutsoumbaris (2-for-4) had a double and 2 RBI, Kaitlyn Warren (2-for-4) had an RBI, and Kara Seymour went 2-for-3. 

The Eagles improved to 32-9 (5-1 in the Suncoast Conference). They hit the road April 1 to face South Florida State College at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
